Riverfront Medical Center
Client: Riverfront Medical Center
Location: St. George, UT
Size: 60,000 SF
Summary
Energy efficiency and incorporating sustainable building design concepts were the main driving force of this 60,000 SF building. To be cost effective and to retain solar heat gain during winter months, we used tilt up concrete panels for exterior walls. The sun heats the “Thermal Corridor” located on the south side of the building and this heat is evenly distributed by the VRF (variable refrigerant flow) system. The “Double Facade” concept helps to maintain constant temperature in both summer and winter months. The construction cost for the core and shell of the building came at $116/SF in 2017. The VRF system is very energy efficient and allows the building users to control the temperature for each and every office space in the building as they prefer.
